It still amazes me that, in this day and age, people still believe that they have the right to treat animals--humans too--as chattel. If they don't want to be bothered with animals, why have them in the first place? I think we know the (sad) answer to this.....it's a power trip. Studies have proven that serial killers and violent criminals often get their start in their criminal career by abusing animals. If we can avert this behavior in children, we might actually be able to prevent as many people from committing crimes against fellow humans. What a wonderful feeling that would be...a world without violence....*sigh*
