NOT SAFE Common medications and so called social "drugs" which definately should NOT be given by owners to their pets.
SAFE The following is a list of household medications that CAN be used on pets. These medications can be especially useful if a veterinarian cannot be reached. products,common usages and canine (dog) dosage Buffered aspirin - pain relief - 5mg per lb. every 12 hrs Vitamin B - appetite stimulant - 1/2 to 2ml every 24 hrs subcutaneously Benadryl - treats allergies, itching - 1/2mg per lb. every 8hrs (max dose 2mg per lb) Dramamine - reduces motion sickness - up to 50mg every 8hrs Hydrogen Peroxide 3% - used to induce vomiting - 10ml by mouth every 15 min. Epinephrine 1:1000 - used to treat reactions following meds,stings and bites - 1/10 to1/2 intramuscular or subcutaneously Pepto Bismol - diarrhea,vomiting & anti gas - 1 tsp per 5 lbs every 6 hrs Di Gel liquid - antacid and anti gas - up to 4 tbs every 8 hrs Mineral Oil - eliminates constipation - up to 4 tbs daily Kaopectate - relieves diarrhea - 1 ml per lb every 2 hrs Amoxicillin - fight bacterial infection - 5 mg per lb every 12 hrs Ampicillian - fight bacterial infection - 10 mg per lb every 6 hours Tetracycline - fight bacterial infection - 10 mg per lb every 8 hrs PEN BP-48 - fight bacterial infection - 1 cc per 20 lbs subcutaniously every 48 hrs Penicillian i300,000 units/mil - fight bacterial infection - 1 ml per 30 lbs subcutaneously
